Stevens Staff is excited to be welcoming back our students and families for the 2019-2020 school year.  Our school community will work to embrace our new Pre-K-3 identity.  We are welcoming back approximately 380 students this school year.  We continue to have five teachers at each grade level with the exception of our one section of pre-school.  In addition, our district KIP program will be housed at Stevens School beginning this fall.  This is a very exciting time at Stevens School!  We will work with our PTO to maintain programming for our students that hold long standing traditional events for families and look to include additional ways to embrace our new early elementary identity.

Our schedule will continue to include specialty classes in the areas of music, art, media, and physical education.  We will also be incorporating health instruction into our schedule and integrate some STEAM lessons into our special areas.  We were very proud to be named a School of Distinction by the state of Connecticut for 2018-19 SBAC performance and will continue a strong emphasis on intervention for our students.  Our intervention block will be called What I Need Now or WINN and will focus on meeting all student needs.

As part of our PBIS at Stevens, every month is assigned a theme; this year we will spend time explicitely teaching each of these themes.  September will focus on Respect and we will be establishing classroom routines and expectations with students.  We will also have an assembly focusing on bus safety and behavioral expectations for the bus.  Anytime students are caught demonstrating the character trait of the month they are given a Husky Hero Spotlight Award and a spirit stick to put on their backpack.  We will also hold a school wide celebration every other month to reinforce what we are teaching and celebrate the positive achievements of our students.  Please work with us to reinforce these character attributes at home.

Lastly, our school hours will be 9:00 a.m.- 3:40 p.m. this year. Some important dates to add to your calendar include;
